Happy Year of the Ox 2021

Friday, 12th February 2021

Happy Year of the Metal Ox!  Chinese New Year falls on Friday, February 12th, this year. The new year is a chance to start fresh, connect with loved ones and share in the hope of good things to come.

Chinese astrology is based on a 12 year cycle with a corresponding element (wind, fire, earth, water or metal) and an animal representing each year.  2021 is the Year of the Metal Ox.  Oxen are reliable and strong working animals, lets hope the Year of the Metal Ox brings some grounding to the crazy unpredictability of the past year.

Those born in the Year of the Ox are said to be determined, strong and hard working.  They tend to put their entire heart into everything they do, but never really look for recognition.  If you are expecting a baby in the coming year you can expect honest and earnest little person who is very focused on family values.

Of the five elements in the Chinese zodiac — wood, fire, earth, metal and water — 2021’s element is Yin Metal.  The metal element is associated with change. Letting go of the old and bring in the new.  2020 was a Yang Metal year and we saw much call for change, albeit through turmoil, uncertainty and unrest.  With a more grounding Yin influence combined with the hardworking, honest energy of the Ox 2021 promises to be a more peaceful year of change.  It is likely what was started in the Rat year will be brought to resolution in the Ox year.

How will you harmonise with the new year?  Were there any plans started during lockdown that are yet to be finished?

Health wise, taking extra care of your Metal element organs, the Lung and Large Intestine continues to be advisable.  Especially as the current epidemic is still affecting our lives.  Please make sure you support your body and mind with good food, gentle exercise and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need support.

From the dispensary our Chest Clear, Glow, and Immunity Healing Herb blends are all designed to support Lung function.  These little blends of raw herbs are easily added to your diet by popping a bag into broths, soups and stews or simmering in water to create a delicious tonic.
