B.H.Sc. (Chinese Medicine)
Dip.(Shiatsu & Oriental Therapies)
Nicola has completed a Bachelor of Health Science in Chinese Medicine, a certified course in Dr Manaka’s Japanese Acupuncture Protocols, a Diploma of Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies and a Bachelor of Fine Art, majoring in Printmaking.
Art school cultivates technique, observation and practice. These qualities have continued in Nicola’s exploration of Shiatsu (Japanese acupressure massage), various acupuncture techniques, Chinese Medicine Herbs and endless further study.
The Australian Shiatsu College provided an integrated experiential learning of the foundations of Chinese Medicine. Nicola learned how Chinese Medicine principles are recognised and treated with bodywork. Studying Chinese Medicine at the Southern School of Natural Therapies expanded Nicola’s ability to help people with the tools of acupuncture and herbal medicine. Further study of Dr Manaka’s Acupuncture Protocols and multiple Japanese Acupuncture strategy seminars, add a depth of resources. Japanese Acupuncture techniques work with the subtleties of the body and are great for balancing the body and addressing chronic issues.
Applying a gentle treatment style with respect for stronger techniques when indicated, Nicola’s treatments often combine bodywork with acupuncture, and ancillary techniques such as moxibustion, cupping and spooning. She enjoys treating a wide range of conditions, from musculoskeletal pain, male and female fertility support including IVF and general health complaints. Nicola also has an interest in treating scars. Be it old or new, an unresolved scar can often be the cause of imbalance in the body.
Nicola is currently on maternity leave.
