Acupuncture for Kids
Yes, kids can get acupuncture too!
Our caring practitioners, who are parents themselves, offer gentle treatments for kids
Pediatrics treatments start with a lot of talking and move into a little bit of gentle massage or stroking and tapping of the channels. Treatment techniques progress only as the child feels comfortable and often include many of the needle-free Toyohari techniques. Treatments are kept short, so it is usual for press balls, small balls of various metals, to be placed on points to continue gentle stimulation during and after treatment. Children love ‘a sticker’ and sometimes think of them as their super power point to help them get better. Parents can be included in the healing process by being shown massage techniques to continue at home if both parties are willing.
Treatments target both symptomatic relief and the root cause of illness. Symptomatic relief could involve a course of treatments to resolve things like a cough, stomach pain, constipation, low appetite or anxiety. Preventative treatments would involve receiving a treatment 1-2 times a month to work on maintaining well-being and general physical and emotional health or to work on more chronic issues.
