Chinese Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is a fundamental part of our treatment strategy in Chinese Medicine. It’s roots reach back to nomadic times and have developed through the ages to form the incredible body of modern day herbal knowledge we now have at our fingertips.

Taking herbs on a daily basis is a simple way for you to support your health. Depending on the strength of the formula created for you, herbal medicine can bring about a significant change in the body or gently keep the balance, maintaining good health.

Being passionate herbalists we truly believe in the power of herbal medicine and boast one of the larger dispensaries in Melbourne. We have almost 300 different herbs at our fingertips to support your body’s needs, many of which you might be surprised to recognise.

The quality and sustainability of our herbs are hugely important to us. All our herbs are of highest quality and are

  • Certified to be organic by the ACO or
  • Certified by Eurofins to be free from pesticides, heavy metals and other contaminants.

We do NOT use or condone the use of endangered animal or plant species.

There are a number of ways to take our herbs on offer here at Quiescence. From the more powerful raw herbs and granules to easy to use tinctures, pills, capsules or herbal teas, there is something for everyone.

The types of herbs we use at Quiescence:

Raw Herbs

Raw herbs are herbs in their most natural state, cut and dried and ready for use. This is the strongest way to take herbal medicine, but being unrefined you’ll need to put in a little work.

Once your practitioner has decided on the correct course of action they will compile a herbal formula specific to your health requirements. Your herbs are dispensed into paper bags for you to take home and boil. The boiling process takes about one hour to complete and the end product lasts for approximately three days. People who enjoy this ritual get great benefit from committing to it, however we understand this is not for everyone.

Granules

Granules are an easier to manage option. The herbs have been processed, their essence extracted and dried into a water dissolvable form. We mix these granulated herbs into a specific formula in much the same way as we do for raw herbs. All you have to do is take them home, add water and drink them back. Easy.

Other Options

If the taste and smell of the granules or raw herbs are too much for you to stomach, we also have pills, capsules and tinctures. All super easy to take with minimal fuss and no unpleasant taste.

If you are interested in any research or the quality and testing process that our herbs undergo, please feel free to ask.
