UNDERSTANDING THE FORMULA

A blend of aromatic herbs to add flavour and aid digestion. Early in the history of Chinese medicine aromatic herbs were thought to be important not only in treating diseases, but also for prolonging life and maintaining youthful vigor. In part this may have been due to the antiseptic and antibacterial nature of aromatic herbs reducing the potential for food borne diseases. A concept present even in early times with Fennel Seeds (Xiao Hui Xiang) and Star Anise (Da Hui Xiang) both being named after their ability to literally ‘hui xiang’ or ‘return the fragrance’ to old meats.

All the herbs in this blend are warming and dispersing in nature. They are said to clear Damp, encourage Qi flow and aid digestion. They taste great too!

Add to your favourite broth, soup or make a tonic and use in your cooking as a replacement for water.
