Happy Year of the Tiger!

Happy Year of the Tiger!Happy Year of the Tiger!  Thursday 1st February marked the beginning of the 2 week celebration of Chinese New Year. Let’s take a look at what we can expect.

Chinese astrology is based on a 12 year cycle with a corresponding element (wind, fire, earth, water or metal) and an animal representing each year.  The Tiger represents the Wood element, spring energy and Liver and Gallbladder meridians. They are fierce, active creatures and are said to be the rulers of the earthly realm.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The innate restless nature of Tiger Years tends to bring about lot of change. This is a very Yang year, a time for decision and action. It is a year for initiating new projects or completing those started in previous years. Just be mindful to stay compassionate and kind in the face of obstacles.

Anger is easy to arise when this energy stagnates, taking the mind frame of “Easy Tiger” should help you through.

Those welcoming a child this year can expect a strong willed, brave individual with a deep sense of what’s right. It is said those born in the Year of the Tiger are natural born leaders, smart, adaptable and charming.

How will you Harmonize with the New Year?

Health wise, take care of your Liver and Gallbladder with  bitter foods for natural detoxification including romaine lettuce, asparagus, amaranth, rye, quinoa, kale, parsley, and collard greens.

Blue and green colours are lucky this year and the lucky flower is Plum Blossom.

Changes in the Clinic in the Year of the Tiger

We’re thrilled that Dorota Swiderski is staying on at the clinic after filling in while Elissa was away last year. Dorota has also been practicing and teaching Qi gong for the last 15 years and works to use Qi gong in addition to her Chinese Medicine practice to support women’s health.

Nicola Menegazzo is on now off on maternity leave, welcoming her second baby. We can’t wait to find out if its a baby boy or girl arriving soon Niki!
We are also welcoming some new faces to our clinic this year! Bianca Dansie is a gentle and thoughtful practitioner, her interests lie in  gynaecology and psycho-emotional/mental health conditions. Later in the year Lara Blumer, who you may have met on our front desk over the past year is joining the team. Lara is a beautiful practitioner with a focus on women’s health and all things hormonal.
